Why does dog professional business insurance matter to us?

When Covid-19 hit and thousands of would-be dog owners took lockdown as the opportunity to finally welcome a dog into their home, we foresaw the need for a central location for ethical, trusted dog services.

We began designing the Wooflinks site from scratch in 2020 with these primary values in mind, and so both basic and professional listings have a mandatory requirement to provide and display an in-date insurance certificate on their profiles. We believe this demonstrates our commitment to only promoting reputable and responsible professional dog businesses.

We seek trust and confidence from our Professional Partners, just as their clients do. Whist we know that just because a business is insured does not necessarily mean that it be trusted, we don’t believe that a trusted business would operate without it.

We believe that in order to provide the best service, professional dog business owners must at least cover the basic assurances for the safety of their business and for their clients.

Dog professional businesses with insurance show that they understand and aim to mitigate the many risks surrounding their operation, such as injury, property damage and legal issues.

Like our peers in the dog professional industry, we too are crying out for regulation. While there is very little at the moment, we believe that promoting insurance helps to set and reinforce high standards for responsible business practices.

It’s not only important from a professional standpoint. Dog owners seeking services may not be fully aware of the risks involved with dog services. By committing to only listing insured businesses helps to protect the users by reducing the likelihood of financial or legal consequences if an unforeseen incident occurs.
